Member Spotlight with the Sonoma Chamber

Member Spotlight | Sonoma Syrup Co. Owner, Karin Campion

How many years have you been in business?

Sonoma Syrup Co. started in Sonoma on Lovall Valley Road in 2002 by handcrafting Simple Syrup in small batches. Now after 19 grateful years, we continue to do so, and have expanded beyond Simple Syrup, with Artisan Extracts and Bar Mixers as well.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love that everything we do leads to happiness! Infusing happiness with cooking and delicious recipes, and also inspiring people to create their own signature cocktail or culinary treat. I love being devoted to fresh, real fruit botanical flavors. I love our team of bright, enthusiastic hard-working young women, and it is my true privilege to encourage them and to be committed to their growth. Together we love infusing love into every product for celebrations with family or friends. I love this town, this team, this country where you can have one simple idea and have the liberty and freedom to build it into a business that impacts and supports many.

What is a fun fact about you that not many know?

I have three beloved sons. I’ve trained and worked in architecture since age 16 and in college, I worked in an architect’s office by day and on the evenings and weekends, I worked at Disneyland. I was selected as the opening crew for Big Thunder Mountain and modeled sweatshirts for the Disney catalog.

Would you like to give any advice to new business owners?

You must love hard and work smart. Trust your instincts and have passion, courage, and confidence in your ideas, action plans, and talent/abilities. Always embrace fierce faith in yourself, your mission, and have positive hope that you can overcome any obstacle. And follow the Golden Rule.

Are there other local Sonoma Valley businesses that you love?

Chateau Sonoma and Sarah Anderson because of her innovation and her dedication to bringing beauty to all of us.

Sonoma Farmers Market – I have gone every Friday possible for over 20 years. The fresh botanicals, Meyer Lemons and amazing farmers I met inspired me to start this business.
