Strawberry Lime Shortcakes

Ingredients

For the Macerated Strawberries:

• 1 lb fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

• 2 tbsp Sonoma Syrup Co. Lime Simple Syrup

• Zest of 1 lime

• Optional: 1 tsp granulated sugar (for extra sweetness)

For the Shortcakes:

• 2 cups all-purpose flour

• 1 tbsp baking powder

• ¼ tsp baking soda

• 2 tbsp granulated sugar

• ½ tsp salt

• ½ cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cubed

• ¾ cup buttermilk (plus more for brushing)

• Optional: Turbinado sugar for sprinkling

For the Lime Whipped Cream:

• 1 cup heavy whipping cream

• 2 tbsp Sonoma Syrup Co. Lime Simple Syrup

• ½ tsp Sonoma Syrup Co. Vanilla Bean Extract “Blend”
